On March 11, 2011, Japan was struck by the shockwaves of a 9.0 magnitude undersea earthquake originating less than 50 miles off its eastern coastline. The most powerful earthquake to have hit Japan in recorded history, it produced a devastating tsunami with waves reaching heights of over 130 feet that in turn caused an unprecedented multireactor meltdown at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. This triple catastrophe claimed almost 20,000 lives, destroyed whole towns, and will ultimately cost hundreds of billions of dollars for reconstruction. In 3.11, Richard Samuels offers the first broad scholarly assessment of the disaster's impact on Japan's government and society. The events of March 2011 occurred after two decades of social and economic malaise--as well as considerable political and administrative dysfunction at both the national and local levels--and resulted in national soul-searching. Political reformers saw in the tragedy cause for hope: an opportunity for Japan to remake itself. Samuels explores Japan's post-earthquake actions in three key sectors: national security, energy policy, and local governance. For some reformers, 3.11 was a warning for Japan to overhaul its priorities and political processes. For others, it was a once-in-a-millennium event; they cautioned that while national policy could be improved, dramatic changes would be counterproductive. Still others declared that the catastrophe demonstrated the need to return to an idealized past and rebuild what has been lost to modernity and globalization.Samuels chronicles the battles among these perspectives and analyzes various attempts to mobilize popular support by political entrepreneurs who repeatedly invoked three powerfully affective themes: leadership, community, and vulnerability. Assessing reformers' successes and failures as they used the catastrophe to push their particular agendas--and by examining the earthquake and its aftermath alongside prior disasters in Japan, China, and the United States--Samuels outlines Japan's rhetoric of crisis and shows how it has come to define post-3.11 politics and public policy.

Very nice product
Size: 30 Count (Pack of 4)
I absolutely love these facial wipes. I used the Pore Refining pack first and noticed a change in my pores after about a week of use. I'm over 60 and as we age our pores start to get a little bigger and this wipe closed them up. I'm very pleased with this facial wipe. They are small, so I use a different facial wipe to get make up off then use the Pore Refining wipe to go over my face again. I haven't used the other three types of wipes you get in this 4-pack, but look forward to see any results from them.

Indispensable!
Scent: Unscented, Size: 25 Count (Pack of 4)
I love these so much that they are part of my monthly subscribe-and-save program. They have absolutely no scent, which is great, because too many products are over-perfumed. They take off all of my makeup gently. There is no stinging or drying sensation. The cloths are well-sized and the package stays shut when not in use- the cloths do not dry out. After I use a couple of these each night to take my makeup off, I follow up with a gentle, moisturizing facial cleanser. My skin is soft, clean, and happy. I highly recommend these!

A Staple in my Skincare Routine
Scent: Unscented, Size: 25 Count (Pack of 3), Scent: Unscented, Size: 25 Count (Pack of 3)
I've been a huge fan of micellar products ever since they came onto the US market and these Simple Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes are no exception! Simple products are known to be gentle and easy on the skin. These wipes stay true to the brand and feel great on the skin! I have combination, sensitive skin and over the years, I've become quite diligent in taking my makeup off before bed. Although I have tried countless popular brands in the past, these Simple Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes are the ones I keep coming back to time and time again. These wipes are my first step of action in removing my makeup and they do a pretty great job of taking off everything. I usually hold the wipe over my eye area for a few seconds to allow the makeup to break down and come off onto the wipe--I've found that this does a good job of removing my mascara, eye liner and shadow. These wipes do not cause any irritation to the eye area and are great to use on the sensitive skin of the face. To take off stubborn or waterproof makeup, I just apply a liquid eye makeup remover directly onto the wipe and have found this to be the easiest and least wasteful method. I usually wash my face afterwards with a gentle cleanser and continue on with my skincare routine. However, on the nights I'm really tired, I rely on these wipes to remove all of my makeup. These wipes do not leave any type of chemical residue behind and make my face feel fresh and clean. The Simple Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes are a staple in my skincare routine. I keep one pack in my bedside table for easy access on the nights I'm too lazy to wash my face, one in my vanity, and another in my gym bag--I clearly like to stock up! I highly recommend these wipes; they are a must try for everyone!
